New trends on the market are often loved for their high-time novelty. Yes, as fashion forward as seasonal trends may be, they rarely ladder up to cult status in my wardrobe. I often find myself retreating back to classic styles for their gratifying sense of purpose and practice — versatile for seasons to come, pair-able with wardrobe staples, and in heavy rotation without wallowing in unrestrained luxury (or tapering bank accounts for that matter).
Amongst a vast array of trends that steer towards “smoldering on sparing terms”, there are certain pieces that never compromise in function nor style. Case in point — a white V-neck cable knit sweater by Karen Scott (or a Tommy classic) over a button down shirt with bow tie accent (in a fun print perhaps a smother of mini cherries?). This perennially stylish combo is my grab and go work outfit when I’m plagued with the “don’t know what to wear and literally have 5 minutes to spare” conundrum. To complete this office-friendly look, I went with a pair of black denims and stiletto boots (similar one HERE) and let’s all relate ladies, a kitchen-sized work bag to tote around because most women happen to need every..little..thing. Do you have a fashion staple that you can always resort to, say when you’ve pressed the snooze button one too many times? :)
