Though the brooding days of Winter will soon come to a sedate halt, there’s a color combo I often resort to that doesn’t evolve with each changing season. The arsenal in question? Various shades of black, white and grey. What I love about the trio is that there are various ways to play up neutral colors without running out of fumes or going out of style, and it’s a great way to reintroduce past items in your wardrobe to make them trendy again!
As Doris Lessing once said, “Things are not quite so simple always as black and white”. In my outfit today I’m taking monochrome up a notch by mixing in patterns and prints while abiding by the neutral color palette. Just like a classic pair of leather pants that withstands age and time, mixing in the right patterns by seamlessly playing with texture and size patterns really takes the “bore” out of the ring (the fashion ring, to be exact).
While sticking to an outfit that is primarily black and white, I played up the 3rd color scheme with this perforated grey sweater. Make it simple but significant. That’s the motto to abide by when enjoying the fine simple things in life, don’t you agree? :)
Life is about the gray areas. Things are seldom black and white, even when we wish they were and think they should be, and I like exploring this nuanced terrain. Emily Giffin
