Bold and daring, timeless and infinite. Those are the words to describe the latest fragrance in the eponymous Chanel N°5 line. Composed by Chanel perfumer Olivier Polge as a modern interpretation of the classic scent, its fresh and sophisticated aura is reminiscent of blooming May Rose, Jasmine and Ylang Ylang within the Alpes-Maritimes department on the French Riviera. Rejuvenating, dynamic, and clean, Chanel N°5 Leau would be a luxurious holiday gift for her during the upcoming holiday season.

What I love about Polge’s fifth reinterpretation of the classic scent in 95 years is its composition and the unique layering of notes. Within the first sniff, you can discern the top notes of lemon, mandarin, orange, neroli and aldehydes. The heart of the perfume, the most robust and lasting scent, is immersed with rose, ylang-ylang, and jasmine. And the foundation, one built with a soft yet potent base, has a warm and sultry hint of cedar and white musk.

And the packaging is divine – beveled glass appears crystal clear like pure water, a humble nod to simplicity and elegance.

A little side story, do you know that May rose, the main floral pillar of all No. 5s since 1921, only blooms for 2 weeks a year during May, and, once picked, must be transported to the factory within 2.5 hours to maintain its robust scent? And that it takes about 800 pounds to produce one pound of rose absolute. Clearly that 1.7 oz of liquid goodness packs quite a punch!

Chanel No. 5 L’Eau is released on September 1st, 2016. Available online at
