Ponchos and capes step aside, I’ve officially embraced a new drapery love this season. Full length in hues from pastel to black, donned on runways to models off duty, the chic duster coat is making rounds quite fashionably in the Chicago Street Style game!
Whether paired with monochrome separates or printed sheaths, there isn’t a swoon-worthy look that doesn’t tug my heart-strings. What’s my favorite way to wear this stylish piece? Head-to-toe neutrals with a touch of academia chic (throwback to those days wearing bow tops and plaid skirts). Oh and some kick-ass McQueen ankle boots to play up the #CoolGirl vehemence.
A thing I learned about wearing long, oversized coats for different frames is that 1.) if you are petite, stick with lengths that hit just below the knee (say paired with a pencil skirt and heeled stilettos), or 2.) if you are tall like me (north of 170cm) then longer versions suit you best. Also keep in mind that minimal add-ons would exude a lean, clean silhouette.
In my outfit today I’m wearing the BootyJeans Lapel Longline Wool Blend Coat by Dezzal. What I love about this sharp, swinging piece is the relaxed fit, long lapels, and soft, wool blend texture. For a price point below $100, it’s a casual piece that can be dressed up for work and dressed down for play without breaking the bank #NoClydeNeeded.
