There’s something so perennially stylish about an all-black ensemble. Replete with various subtleties like fabric, print, and cut, a monochrome outfit can be just as au courant as its colorful counterparts. And can you blame its functionality — after all, they pretty much act like a placebo for days when we don’t have the time or energy to style an outfit with a flash of brighter hues.
Kicking the color wheel to the curb, I’ve decided to take a plunge in various form, fit, texture, and pattern (all in black) that function as mere opposites of one another. Sheer polka dotted shirt with baroque velvet pants streamline the outfit from lucid to opaque. Boyfriend blazer and chunky heels fuse a “borrowed from the boys” look with ultra femininity. My favorite fall/winter item to date? A black, lightweight slim scarf to keep the outfit spiffy and fun.
What’s your take on an all-black ensemble, and is it something you wear on a regular basis?
