When a renowned 287-key hotel group joins the roundup of upscale lodging and hospitality scenes along Michigan Avenue, you know its grand opening would not be anything less than spectacular. And a high octane, sleekly suited party it was when Conrad Chicago hosted its opening reception at River North this past Monday!
Imbued with a sprinkle of sparkle and a dash of elan, the Conrad Chicago’s opening reception had all the rhetorics of a Mad Men soirée – classic bourbon and mixed spirits, ladies and gents in 1960’s cocktail attire, and swinging jazz music to accompany the festive sentiment!
And the food was impeccable – delicate squash and burrata topped with pumpkin seed and smoked sherry vinaigrette. Scrumptious maki and nigiri for all attendees’ bait of the hook delight. And the tropical mousse with white chocolate shavings was the crème de la crème of all culinary confections (plus how cute is the mini mason jar!) For a menu revolving around elevated whiskey-centric American food, renowned chef Richard Sandoval sure didn’t fail to deliver, at Baptiste and Bottle on the 20th floor, a delectable array of distinctive spirits and small plates.
So whether you’re planning a stylish and contemporary escape to the Windy City, or in the mood for a luxurious staycation along the Magnificent Mile (note: swoon-worthy view of Lake Michigan), why not give Conrad Chicago a go? Plus I’ve heard that they have a virtual reality concierge, real live bourbon sommelier and –wait for it — pizza quesadillas! Sign me up :).
Ps: Wishing everyone a fun and festive holiday!
